Top Ten Tuesday ~ Military ~ No. 11

Don't forget to stop by and Like my Facebook Page! DIY Vintage Chic.

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! I've fallen in love with all the quotes, ecards, and pics I find on Facebook and Pinterest. They crack me up, they make me cry, and there's a number of them that get a nod of the head... yep, that's exactly my life. So once a week I give a run down of some of my favorite. This week Top Ten Tuesday is for Memorial Day and the remembrance of our military men and women! Thanks to you and your families for everything you do!

1 Year Anniversay!!!

Don't forget to stop by and Like my Facebook Page! DIY Vintage Chic.

Happy Anniversary!!!

It's been one whole year since DIY Vintage Chic was created and I can't believe not only how much it's grown but how I had time to create and post all of this!

Below are the top five most viewed posts.

Vintage Wine Crate Coffee Table ~ This project sent my blog into overdrive. I woke up one morning last summer to find my computer smoking it was getting so much traffic. {Just kidding} It went Pinterest crazy! Since then I've developed the Inspiration Page for all of those who have created a similar table. I finished the matching Side Table. And I also started selling my tables for those non-DIYers out there. Contact me if you're interested.

Custom Side Table ~ Seems like everyone prefers my furniture project. Buy a big flower pot and fill it with your favorite decoration to create a custom table.

Spoon & Fork Artwork ~ My knock-off wall art incorporated a number of techniques. Image transfer, textures, painting and stencils were all included to create this piece.

Upcycled Wine Bottle to Plant Nanny ~ Save those old wine bottles before your next vacation. Follow my directions for keeping your plants watered while you're out having fun.

Message in a Bottle Invites ~ Here's one of the biggest reason I was soooo busy last year. MY WEDDING! For our destination wedding I created these Message in a Bottle Invites to go along with my vintage travel theme.

And my most viewed Tutorial...

Transfer Image to Wood ~ I number of my projects use this process. {Read the comments for additional ways to transfer images!}

Here's to another year of blogging! Cheers!

Healthy Strawberry and Banana Nut Bread

Don't forget to stop by and Like my Facebook Page! DIY Vintage Chic.
Strawberry and banana bread made with avocado and applesauce instead of butter
Once again I've traded in my paint brush for a spatula. I promise I do cook/bake more than once a year. I just don't post everything but occasionally there's something terrific that comes along that I need to share with you all. Like my Camoflauge Cookies from last summer.

Much like my artwork, I don't usually follow instructions when cooking. Below is my... concoction I created from multiple recipes.

Healthy Strawberry Banana Nut Bread
{Print PDF Here}
Ingredients:
~ 3-4 ripe bananas mashed
~ 1 cup sliced strawberries
~ 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce*
~ 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
~ 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
~ 1/2 teaspoon salt
~ 4 tablespoons ripe avocado mashed
~ 1 cup light brown sugar
~ 4 eggs
~ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
~ 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
~ baking spray

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease either two 8x5 inch loaf pans with baking spray or line 2 muffin pans. {Or one of each like I did}

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt with wire whisk. Set aside.

In a large bowl cream avocado and sugar with an electric mixer. Add eggs, bananas, apple sauce and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until thick.

Add flour mixture and stir. Mix in strawberries and walnuts. Do not over stir.

Pour batter into loaf pan or muffin pan and bake on center rack. Loaves will require 50 minutes. Muffins only need about 25-30 minutes. {Or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.}

Remove from pan(s) and let cool on wire rack.

* Alternative, use Greek Yogurt in place of the apple sauce. Better yet, use strawberry Greek yogurt!

Slice and ENJOY!

Healthy alternative using whole wheat flour
 The muffins are much easier to grab and run in the morning!
Make muffins for an easy morning breakfast
I also added a bit a flax seed for an extra health kick.
