Antique Pulley Project

I recently snagged this little treasure for $5 at a flea market. I've been debating on what I should do with it and I'm asking for help!
Here are a few projects I've stumbled across that I thought might work.
A year ago I found Inspired By Charm's Hanging Scale and loved it. This is the whole reason I picked up the pulley in the first place.

I could also rig up some kind of light fixture like Former Inhabitants Etsy Shop.

Or Kara Paslay Designs light. I LOVE THIS!

That was about the extent of craft projects I could find with an pulley. :/ So I started looking for items to hang. How about hanging a chair on the porch?
A pod chair or a bench?
Hang a mirror (I'd have to grab another one)
A cute little antique calendar
Hanging plant
TW Pottery on Etsy
Or just use it as a book end
Mamie Jane's
Living in a condo means a garden's not possible. A hanging garden would be awesome though.
Nest In Style
What do you think about this idea? A hanging crib?

What do you think?

  1. I love to collect pulleys. Most of mine are wooden. You can see some of my collection at, http://eclecticredbarn.blogspot.com/2012/10/fall-scale-display.html#more.
I also use them for hanging planters on my deck.
That's my contribution. Good luck decorating with it.

  2. Did you make anything yet? I have a couple too that we have found in the barn but I don't know what to do with them!

  3. I love the idea of bookends! You don't have to do anything to them--they look charming and if you want to do something else later you don't have to do anything to rework them because they're in the original condition.
