DIY Rustic Headboard - for under $50 and it only takes a weekend!

Don't forget to stop by and Like my Facebook Page! DIY Vintage Chic.

One project, one weekend, under $50 and it only takes 4 cuts {if you make friends with the guys at Home Depot or Lowe's you can probably even get them to make those cuts for you!}.
This past weekend the hubby was gone so I had a whole weekend to play. I bought my materials on Friday night and by Sunday at noon I was moving this headboard into our bedroom! Saturday morning first thing I woke up and stained all my boards.
Once they were dry I started adding boards to the back for stability.
Use clamps to help hold the boards in place while drilling holes.
Make sure you check the boards before you buy them. This part will become very difficult if you have to work with a bunch of warped boards.
Once finished I used Finishing Wax. It was my first time using it but I really like the look.
This was probably the hardest part... hulling this thing upstairs by myself. I wanted to surprise the hubby with a completed project. Good thing he's been making me lift weights at the gym!
Next up, new nightstands... they obviously don't match now!

***While I'm thrilled to share my step-by-step directions, the good and the bad, these are intended for your personal use. I'm always happy to hear and see what my bloggers have been working on. BUT a lot of work goes into these creations and while I have no issues sharing so you are able to create the work for your precious homes please understand that selling an exact duplication of my designs is highly frowned upon. :( Please always be considerate of another artists work. Thank you!***
