Wall Art with Hanging Pictures

{With no AC for 2 weeks and now having to pack up the house to move away for 3 weeks I haven't had much time from blogging. :( So sad, but here's a project from the past}

I'm not the only one with a little bit a craftiness... this is the first Valentine's Day gift from my sweet, sweet man!
Materials:
Frames ~ number and size of your choosing
Curtain Rod ~ style and length are up to you!
Ribbon ~ Measure length from rod to frame and add several inches for attaching to the frame and wrapping around the curtain rod
Epoxy ~ we had Loctite on hand
Mending Brace {one for each frame}

Determine where you would like to hang your curtain rod and follow the instructions from the package. Please make sure your screws go into the stud or you use anchors. There will be quite a bit of weight on your rod and the screws for the brackets will more than likely ripe through the drywall if you don't.

Jason decided to hang these over our bed so he wanted some extra strength. Wouldn't want to wake up to a huge, heavy frame falling on your head. Ouch! Glue {or epoxy} the ribbon to the top of your frame. Our frames are reenforced with the mending braces screwed into place on top of the ribbon.
Measure the length of ribbon and add a few extra inches to wrap around. Once again, use the epoxy and secure the end of your ribbon to the back.
And you're done! Step back and enjoy your photos. Our bedroom is a mix of black and grey so I went with black and white photos of us. Feel free to do this with your artwork {or your kids} for a pop of color!
Thanks for stopping by!

  2. This is fantastic, but now my wife has seen it she's dropping not so subtle hints at me! Is that curtain rod a bespoke store-bought size or did your partner re-size it? It looks like I might have to dig out my old tool box and get to work on something similar. I was thinking about creating a similar project but making it a waterproof display and hanging it from the shower curtain.

    1. Robbie,

      The curtain rod is store bought. We weren't too creative this time! ;) Good luck with your honey-do list.

  3. What a blast! Besides having a great grasp of perspective, what a great…grasp of perspective…such artists have to pour so much heart into something so ephemeral.

    Cheers!
